Vivo X Fold 5: Vivo appears set to introduce the heir to last year’s X Fold 3, and early teasers have already generated buzz. Interestingly, the company is thought to skip X Fold 4 altogether. Alternatively, it is likely to reveal the phone in the form of Vivo X Fold 5. Ranging from high-end features to design cues, here is what you might look forward to in Vivo’s next major foldable.
Display and Design
Vivo X Fold 5 is said to feature an 8.03-inch internal foldable AMOLED screen with 2K+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This is said to be akin to the screen of the X Fold 3 but may be accompanied by enhancements. The outer screen may be a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED panel, with 120Hz refresh rate, providing users with a seamless visual experience whether folded or unfolded. Its thickness would be 4.3mm when unfolded and 9.33mm when folded.
Processor and Performance
Internally, the phone is rumored to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, Qualcomm’s current top-of-the-line processor. This beast of a chip can be coupled with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The last model had used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, so this is a significant upgrade in terms of sheer performance and efficiency.
Camera Features
The Vivo X Fold 5 can have a triple-camera setup at the rear. It is reported to feature a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor, 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens with autofocus, and 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calling, the foldable can have two 32MP front cameras—one on the inner screen and another on the outer.
Battery and Charging
One of the most notable highlights may be the 6,000mAh battery capacity, which is reportedly the highest among foldables to date. Vivo may support 90W wired and 30W wireless charging. The X Fold 3 had a smaller 5,500mAh battery and 80W wired charging, so this upgrade will be important for users who value battery life.
Other Features and Build
The phone is said to have a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a three-level Alert Slider, making it more user-friendly and easily accessible. There might also be some AI-powered additions for better convenience. There is a mention of an IP rating, but the extent of protection isn’t known yet.
