UPI PIN: The first payment app in India to offer a biometric UPI function is Amazon Pay. You will not need to input your PIN when using Amazon Pay to make UPI payments. On the other hand, you can use your fingerprint or face to make payments. Those who would rather not input their PIN when making payments will profit from this option. Transactions made with this functionality will be limited at ₹5,000.

It will now be significantly simpler to make UPI payments with Amazon Pay. In India, Amazon has launched the UPI Biometric Authentication function. As a result, you may now use your fingerprint or face to conduct UPI payments with Amazon Pay, doing away with having to input a four-digit PIN.

For those who want to avoid the hassle of continually entering their PIN or who prefer speedy online payments, this function will be quite helpful. One of the first payment systems in India to use biometric UPI was Amazon Pay.

Pay with UPI now without a PIN.

You will no longer need to input your PIN when using Amazon Pay to make a UPI payment. On the other hand, you can use biometric authentication—that is, your fingerprint or face—to make the payment. This feature is only available for transactions up to ₹5,000 due to security concerns. This implies that you will not have to enter your PIN if you spend less than ₹5,000. However, you will need to provide your four-digit PIN if the total exceeds ₹5,000 by even one percent.

As reported by Amazon, almost 90% of consumers selected the biometric option over a PIN during early testing. This implies that the feature may become popular in the near future.

What benefits does this feature offer?

Lowering “transaction friction,” or removing small hassles during payments, is the aim of UPI Biometric Authentication. All popular payment methods, such as Send Money, Scan & Pay, and online merchant payments, will be compatible with this feature.

Because biometric data cannot be stolen or shared with third parties, this function is also far more secure. It will also be simpler to pay with one hand while holding your phone due to this feature.

Who will currently have access to this feature?

The feature will function on smartphones that allow biometric features like fingerprint or face unlock, although it is currently limited to Android users. Soon, iOS users will also be able to access this feature on Amazon. In addition to saving time, PIN-free UPI will improve the security and ease of the payment process. This approach may eventually become the new norm for electronic payments.
