Samsung devices will soon receive Android 16 based One UI 8 upgrade: Samsung is gearing up for a big software update once again. Although its release of One UI 7 was sluggish, the company is currently developing One UI 8 based on Android 16. A leaked list shows that some Galaxy phones are slated to get this update. Find out if your phone is in the list of devices mentioned in a recent report.

One UI 8 Release Timeline

Samsung intends to bypass the incremental releases such as One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1 and directly proceed with One UI 8.0. This increase is because of One UI 7’s rollout delays. Although Samsung has not confirmed this, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are believed to be the first to come with One UI 8. New foldables are typically launched by Samsung in July or early August, so the same pattern is anticipated for these devices. Google’s Android 16 will release by June 2025, so the One UI 8 beta program may start in early July.

New One UI 8 Features

Samsung has added log video recording in its camera application. Launched first with the Galaxy S25 series, it was later brought to the S24 series via the One UI 7 update. With One UI 8, even more devices will have it. Also, One UI 8 introduces the ‘Now Brief’ feature to last year’s 2024 Galaxy flagships. The Quick Share menu is reshaped into two parts—Receive and Send. There are slight UI changes in various apps that improve the user interface. As One UI 8 is in beta state now, there are going to be additional features in the launch version.
