Samsung One UI 8 Leak: Samsung’s much-awaited tri-fold phone, Galaxy G Fold, has shown up in the new One UI 8 build shortly before the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9th, 2025. The design revelations are brought to us by Android Authority, which found fresh animation files hinting at this intriguing foldable mode. It’s looking like one of the most adventurous hardware moves from Samsung so far.

Double Fold, Not Triple?

Even though it’s called a tri-fold, the phone doesn’t fold three times. It folds twice, first folding the empty left panel inside, and then the right screen folding over that. This is similar to Samsung’s earlier Flex G prototype. Due to this, Samsung could advertise the phone as “Multifold” instead of tri-fold, because that better describes the actual folding process.

Larger Inner Display with Unique Folding Style

Relative to the book-form folding phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Fold 7, the Galaxy G Fold has a significantly wider inner screen. With two hinges in the tri-fold design, it can open up to a wider screen, perhaps better suited to multitasking and entertainment purposes. The left portion of the front is an empty panel with no screen, while the middle and right panels comprise the primary screen area.

Four Rear Cameras with Punch-Hole Front

One of the largest positives is that there are four cameras at the back. There’s a triple-camera setup on one side, and the fourth one is a punch-hole camera in the middle screen. In contrast to earlier foldables, Samsung seems to have ditched the under-display front camera, possibly to increase picture quality.

Redesigned Hinges and Build Quality

The hinges demonstrated in the leaked video are different in terms of size, probably to provide a smoother and more secure folding experience. Samsung’s engineers appear to have given much attention to structural build, which is vital for a multi-hinge build. It should be noted that the final folded form will have a reasonably thick body, thicker than existing foldables.

Expected Specifications and Display Size

The Galaxy G Fold might have a huge 9.96-inch screen when unfolded and come down to 6.54 inches in height when folded, based on leaks. It weighs around 298 grams, making it slightly more than the available foldables on Samsung’s roster. The thicker design is the sacrifice for a bigger, bendier screen experience.

Multifold vs Flex S Concept

Samsung has also experimented with the Flex S prototype, which folds in an “S” shape. That design involves one screen folding outward and another inward, creating a more layered experience similar to Huawei’s Mate XT. However, in the new animations found in One UI 8, the term “Multifold 7” was mentioned, suggesting this could be either an internal codename or Samsung’s official naming choice.

Final Thoughts: Awaiting Samsung’s Official Reveal

While the One UI 8 build provides us with an intriguing look at what Samsung could release, none of these points are officially confirmed just yet. The July 9th Galaxy Unpacked event will probably sort it all out. Until then, the Galaxy G Fold is still one of the most exciting devices in the foldable space this year.
