Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Flip 7 FE: Samsung has made its foldable series even more special, as now there is not only a premium model, but also another affordable and practical choice – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
Both the phones may look similar, but there are some very interesting and important differences between them, knowing which flip phone will be right for you.
Flip 7: The real fun of Premium
First of all, let’s talk about the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This is Samsung’s flagship foldable, which will get everything you expect from a high-end smartphone. Its price is a bit high, but looking at its features and design, you will understand why.
In this you get a big and bright 6.9-inch FHD + AMOLED display, which comes with an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz. That is, scrolling and videos will look very smooth. The outer display, which Samsung calls FlexWindow, is now even bigger – a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED screen that is fully interactive. You can check notifications, run widgets, and even access voice AI. The brightness is so intense that the screen is clearly visible even in direct sunlight.
In terms of design, the phone is now thinner and stronger, thanks to Armor Aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The new Armor FlexHinge gives it a more premium feel.
Flip 7 FE: The budget champion of foldables
Now, we come to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE – for those who want the foldable experience but don’t want to spend a lot of money.
It has the same folding mechanism and form factor, but some things have been cut down to keep the price down. Its main display is 6.7-inches and comes with the same FHD+ AMOLED tech. But the outer display is slightly smaller – a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate. Meaning it will show basic notifications and calls, but there will be no advanced AI interactions like the Flip 7.
Build quality is still great – Armor Aluminum frame and IP48 rating, which protects it from water and dust.
How much difference in performance?
The Flip 7 has Samsung’s latest Exynos 2500 processor, which is built on 3nm tech and is specially optimized for Galaxy AI. Along with this, there is 12GB of RAM which makes multitasking super smooth.
The Flip 7 FE has a slightly older Exynos 2400 chipset, which was also used in some variants of the Galaxy S24 series. It comes with 8GB of RAM, which is enough for day-to-day use, but you will not get as much power as Flip 7.
Camera is same in both but AI changes the game
Samsung has given the same dual rear camera setup in both the phones – 50MP main sensor and 12MP ultra-wide lens, along with a 10MP selfie camera. But due to the more powerful chip in Flip 7, you get AI camera features like improved Nightography, HDR video and smart tools like Zoom Slider.
Battery and Charging – Both are powerful
Flip 7 is the Flip with the biggest battery till date – with a capacity of 4300mAh. At the same time, Flip 7 FE has a 4000mAh battery. Both phones support 25W fast charging and wireless charging, which is great for practical use.
Software and AI Experience
The Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE both come with Android 16 and One UI 8, with Samsung’s new Galaxy AI deeply integrated. The Flip 7 in particular gets some exclusive AI features, such as “Gemini Live” which works with FlexWindow and gives you hands-free search and smart task automation.
The Flip 7 also adds Samsung DeX support for the first time, allowing you to use it like a computer – a big upgrade for the Z Flip series.
The Flip 7 FE also gets core AI features like Live Translate, Note Assist, Circle to Search, which make it powerful, but with a slightly limited interface.
Connectivity also differs
The Flip 7 supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, while the Flip 7 FE comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4.
Which model for you?
If you want the latest and best tech, and a folding screen phone experience that’s future-ready, the Flip 7 is for you. Its bigger outer screen, advanced AI features, and flagship processor make it premium.
But if you want a stylish, folding phone experience at a lower price point, and don’t mind a few compromises, the Flip 7 FE is a solid option. It’s basically the same as the Flip 6 but with a newer processor and a lower price.
Samsung has made one thing clear by offering both options – foldable is no longer a luxury, but within everyone’s reach.
