Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Samsung has launched a new model this time in the name of Galaxy S25 Edge, which has been presented as a stylish and thin step between S25 Plus and Ultra. Its focus is very clear – to give you a light, thin and premium looking phone. But in this effort, did something get cut that should not have been cut? Let’s talk without beating around the bush.
Galaxy S25 Edge at first glance, not too thick
When I held this phone in my hand for the first time, the first thing I felt was – it is good, but did not steal the heart. It is definitely thinner than S25 Plus, but there is no revolutionary thinness. Meaning, you will not say that “Oh wow, this is something different.” Looking at its size and design, it will seem that Samsung only focused on sleekness, leaving everything else as before.
When the Galaxy Z Fold 6 opens, it becomes even thinner than this. And if we talk about history, Vivo had made a thinner phone than this in 2014 itself. So the S25 Edge is definitely the “thinnest Samsung”, but not the “thinnest phone”.
It became thinner, but the camera and battery paid the price for it
Its main camera is 200MP, which sounds great, but in reality it is different from the high-end sensor of the Ultra model. The sensor is smaller, as a result the image quality is not as sharp and clear. The zoom lens has been completely removed – that means forget about 3x, 5x or 10x zoom photography now.
The battery has also been sacrificed for thinness. While the Galaxy S25 Plus has a 4,900mAh battery, this Edge has only 3,900mAh. If you do social media, gaming, camera and a little video editing, then finding a charger by evening is certain. And fast charging is still stuck at 45W – when the world is moving to 80W and 100W.
There is titanium in the design, a bit disappointing
The frame of the phone is made of titanium, which looks premium and also gives strength in the hand. But as soon as you look at the phone closely, some small design flaws are visible – the camera bump seems a bit protruding and unbalanced. The SIM tray is not setting properly in some units. The positioning of ports and speakers is also not very accurate, which is not expected from a big company like Samsung.
The software experience is good, but nothing new
The combination of One UI 7 and Android 15 is good – already familiar and smooth. New AI shortcuts have been given in the Edge panel, which are a little useful but only a few users will use them daily.
Samsung DeX is present in this phone, and this is a big plus point. You can use your phone like a laptop – you can create a mini computer by connecting it to a monitor and keyboard. This feature has been removed in Fold 6, so it is a pleasure to have it in Edge.
To wear a case or not – this is an important question
Samsung has designed the Galaxy S25 Edge in such a way that people say – “Wow, what a thin phone.” But as soon as you put any case on it, whether it is Samsung’s slim cover or a third party case, the biggest USP of the phone – its thinness – disappears. And if you don’t put a case on it, the camera bump at the back is so prominent that there is more of a risk of the lens breaking instead of the screen.
The story of colors and RAM
The Galaxy S25 Edge comes in three colors – silver, blue and black. It has two variants – 256GB and 512GB storage with 12GB RAM. Both are great, but there is no microSD card slot, so whatever you buy remains the same.
Talking about the price, the 256GB variant is available in the US for $1,099 and the 512GB variant for $1,219. Samsung does have an offer to double the storage on pre-booking, which makes it worth a bit.
Is it worth buying the Galaxy S25 Edge?
If you were planning to buy the Samsung S25 Plus and want a little more style, lightness and exclusive design, then you can get this Edge version by paying some extra money. But if you are a user who needs camera performance, battery life and power in gaming – then this phone is probably not for you.
This is made for a non-techy, design-centric user – who wants to look sleek, look good on video calls, and whose phone doesn’t feel bulky in the pocket.
