OnePlus 13s: OnePlus has confirmed that their new OnePlus 13s, a compact flagship phone, will launch in India soon. The first teaser showed the phone in two colours—Black Velvet and Pink Satin. But the latest teaser also shows a new green colour for the phone. It seems that the phone will only be available in these three colours—Black Velvet, Pink Satin, and Green—in India, while the grey model of the OnePlus 13T will not come to India.

New “Plus Key” control button and specifications

OnePlus has revealed that the phone will have a new physical control button called the “Plus Key”. This button will be customisable and will allow users to use the smartphone in a more personalised and efficient way. The phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and will have a screen size of 6.32 inches, making it a compact flagship smartphone.

Availability in India

As always, the phone will be available on Amazon.in, OnePlus India’s online store, and offline retail stores. Full details of the OnePlus 13s launch are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Specifications of OnePlus 13s

The OnePlus 13s will be a rebranded version of the OnePlus 13T launched for China. It has a 6.32-inch OLED screen, which supports 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, along with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

The phone will have a 6,260mAh battery, which supports 90W fast charging.

Demand for compact flagship phones

The OnePlus 13s will be the company’s first compact smartphone, which will come to the Indian market soon. This phone is special because OnePlus does not launch a new phone every month and their smartphone lineup is very streamlined, with models in different price segments. The lowest priced model Nord CE 4 Lite is around ₹ 17,999, and the most premium OnePlus 13 is available for ₹ 69,999. The 13s meets the demand of users who want flagship performance, but in a small and compact form factor.

Robin Liu says

Robin said that “compact” does not mean lack of features, rather this phone is very smart, small and powerful. The 13s model has been specially designed for Indian users. He said that 88% of Indian users have said that they would like to have a compact smartphone without losing performance.

Counterpoint’s Tarun Pathak’s opinion

Tarun Pathak said that people are now tired of big and heavy phones. Compact phones fit better in the hand, there is less fear of falling, and one-handed use is easy. He said that 53% of users said that they are unable to operate a big phone properly with one hand, 47% did not find the grip of the phone right, and 46% found it difficult to carry a big phone.

Real-life use cases and digital wellness

Mobile users want easy access to their phones, especially in crowded places like metro or bus. Compact phones are better for texting, selfies, and social media. Some users are also preferring smaller phones for digital wellness and minimalist lifestyle so that they can use the phone with more focus.

New physical button and features

The OnePlus 13s will have a new physical button, which will be placed on the left side chassis of the phone and can be customized for specific tasks. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and will have the option to unlock the screen with a fingerprint sensor.
