LG Warns Smart TV Users: Don’t Use Mosquito Bats Near LED and OLED Screens

The South Korean company LG has issued a critical alert which affects all users of Smart TVs who watch content through their residential LED and OLED television sets. The display panel of a television screen suffers permanent damage when people operate electric mosquito bats at distances which approach the television device. The company states that high-voltage electric sparks produced by mosquito rackets will disrupt essential components of the television system which will result in permanent picture quality degradation.

Why Mosquito Bat Can Damage Smart TVs

Electric mosquito bats create small but powerful electric discharges when they hit insects. The sparks produce electromagnetic interference which affects electronic devices in their vicinity. LG warns that modern OLED and LED TVs use highly sensitive display panels and circuits which become damaged from electrical disturbances that their users create through mosquito bats used in front of their screens.

OLED and LED Screens Are More Sensitive

Premium OLED TVs are particularly susceptible to damage because their display technology operates with ultra-thin pixels and sensitive internal circuits. Even a minor electrical disturbance may lead to screen flickering, dead pixels, display lines, or permanent panel damage. LED TVs can experience display problems which occur to OLED models because their technology makes them more vulnerable to electrical disturbances.

Users Report Display Problems

Television users reported that their screens displayed unusual behavior after they used mosquito bats in proximity to their televisions. The problems included random flickering, color distortion, temporary blackouts, and image retention. In some extreme situations, the TV panel stopped functioning properly. LG advises users to keep electric mosquito bats away from all types of electronic devices which include TVs and monitors and laptops and other electronic gadgets. Users should avoid using mosquito rackets directly in front of the screen especially in dark rooms where insects are commonly attracted to TV light. The company requires users to maintain proper distance from all sensitive electronic devices during high-voltage mosquito bat operations.
