Weather Update – Very Heavy Rain, ThunderStorms to Hit Multiple States This Week

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather bulletin for several states across the country, covering the next five days. Alerts regarding heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and squalls have been issued for various states. Meanwhile, several parts of Northwest and Central India remain gripped by severe heatwaves. Furthermore, amid the scorching heat in North India, alerts for rain and thunderstorms have been issued for the states of South India over the next five days. Additionally, the monsoon is expected to advance into parts of the South Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands around May 16.

An alert has been issued due to the likelihood of heavy rainfall in isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka between May 13 and May 17. According to the latest bulletin from the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at some locations in Northeast India between May 13 and May 19, as well as in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Weather in Jharkhand

According to the Meteorological Department, stormy winds gusting at speeds of 50–60 km/h may blow across the region on May 14. Furthermore, the spell of rainfall is expected to continue from May 15 through May 18.

Weather in Bihar

An alert regarding severe storms has been issued for Bihar on May 16. There is also a possibility of rain accompanied by lightning on May 15 and May 17.

Weather in West Bengal and Sikkim

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall may occur in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal between May 14 and May 16.

Weather in Assam and Meghalaya

Heavy rainfall is anticipated in both states on May 14. A continuous spell of heavy rainfall is expected to persist from May 15 through May 19.

Weather in Arunachal Pradesh

According to the Meteorological Department, extremely heavy rainfall is forecast for the region on May 14 and 18.

Weather in Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura

An alert has been issued for these three states due to heavy rainfall expected until May 15.

Weather in South India

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh from May 14 to 17. Additionally, rainfall accompanied by lightning is forecast for Telangana from May 13 to 15, and for Coastal and North Interior Karnataka until May 13.

The Meteorological Department predicts that thunderstorms and lightning strikes are likely in Coastal Karnataka on May 14 and 15. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from May 14 to 17.
