Google Pixel 9 Pro: Google’s latest flagship offering, the Pixel 9 Pro, launches with a thin but high-performance design for consumers who like premium performance in a thin body. While its thin profile and new AI-focused features are a highlight, the phone also bolsters Google’s push towards software dominance, camera innovation, and powerful custom silicon.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Design and Display

Pixel 9 Pro features a premium glass and aluminum build with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone is compact at 152.8 x 72 x 8.5mm dimensions and weighs 199g. The display is a colorful 6.3-inch LTPO OLED with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and 3000 nits peak brightness. The screen features a sharp resolution of 1280 x 2856 pixels that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and comes with Always-On Display support.

Performance and Software

Pixel 9 Pro is powered by Google’s own Tensor G4 chip based on a 4nm process. It runs Android 14 out of the box and will be upgradable to Android 15, with Google promising up to 7 major Android upgrades. The CPU has an octa-core architecture and Mali-G715 MC7 GPU. It has storage between 128GB and 1TB, with all of it having 16GB RAM through UFS 3.1 technology. It does not have a microSD card slot.

Camera Specifications

The triple rear camera setup includes a 50MP wide sensor, 48MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide lens. Camera features include Pixel Shift, Zoom Enhance, Ultra-HDR, and Best Take. The phone supports 8K video recording via cloud-based upscaling and 4K at various frame rates. The front is equipped with a 42MP ultrawide selfie camera that supports 4K recording. Panorama and HDR are other camera features, which the phone supports.

Battery and Charging

The phone has a 4700mAh battery that is charged using 27W wired charging (PD3.0, PPS), which reaches 55% within 30 minutes. Wireless charging is supported up to 21W with a Pixel Stand, up to 12W with other Qi-compatible chargers, and reverse wireless charging is supported. Bypass charging is possible using a battery protection mode.

Connectivity and Features

Connectivity options that come in the form of features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, USB Type-C 3.2, and satellite SOS support. It supports Ultra Wideband and Circle to Search. The sensors on board include an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor, thermometer, barometer, and motion sensors. There is no support for the 3.5mm jack.

Pixel 9 Pro Price and Storage Options

The Pixel 9 Pro is priced at $599 for the 128GB variant. The 256GB model costs $698.99, while the 512GB model is priced at $919. The top-of-the-line 1TB model is also available, although pricing would vary by region. The phone is available in Porcelain, Rose Quartz, Hazel, and Obsidian color options.
