Galaxy A57: Samsung is once again creating buzz in the mid-range category with its new Galaxy A57. Although the smartphone itself is not yet out, initial information on its processor has leaked, previewing what’s in store for tech buffs. The speculated Exynos 1680 chipset may be the start of something new in Samsung’s in-house chip production for 2026.
Exynos 1680 Chipset Leak
The Galaxy A57 should come powered by Samsung’s new-gen Exynos 1680 processor, which carries the model number S5E8865. Spotlighted by GalaxyClub, this chip is what replaces the Exynos 1580 that drove the Galaxy A56 in 2025. The selling point of the Exynos 1680 is its purported Xclipse 550 GPU, which is said to be built atop AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture — a tech also associated with the high-end Exynos 2500 driving upcoming flagship offerings such as the Galaxy S26 and Z Flip 7.
Anticipated Performance Bump
Even though there aren’t any official benchmarks yet, initial estimates indicate a solid performance boost over the last generation. The Exynos 1580 used in the Galaxy A56 had an overall AnTuTu score of 906,000. With the latest Exynos 1680, experts anticipate scores ranging from 1.1 million to 1.2 million, representing a 15–25% improvement. GPU scores are also anticipated to reach 300,000 to 350,000. There’s also speculation that the chipset may retain a 4nm process while shifting to a 1+4+3 CPU core setup for better efficiency and speed.
Previous Generation Highlights
The Galaxy A56 had a 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, a 50MP triple camera setup at the back, 45W fast charging, and a 5,000mAh battery. These were positioned firmly in the mid-range segment, appealing to those looking for value and performance. Samsung will probably improve on this solid base with the Galaxy A57 and bring significant camera upgrades.
Camera and Multimedia Expectations
Rumors have it that the A57 may feature a telephoto camera with support for 2x or 3x optical zoom, placing it fairly well against competition from the likes of Vivo. 4K video recording at 60fps may also be featured as part of the package, providing multimedia functionality with an improvement over this price level.
Estimated Launch Timeline and Price
Although Samsung has not yet officially announced the release date, rumors suggest that the Galaxy A57 may go on sale in the first half of 2026. The India launch price has been pegged at ₹45,990, which is approximately $550. That places it strictly in the upper mid-range segment, where it would look to attract both performance-oriented customers as well as multimedia buffs.
