CMF Buds 2 Plus: If you’re looking for budget true wireless earbuds that don’t skimp on core features, CMF Buds 2 Plus are a compelling argument. Released alongside the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing’s sub-brand earbuds deliver robust ANC, decent battery life, and high-end design elements. We put them through exhaustive use over the course of a month to understand how well they perform in terms of sound quality, comfort, and overall user experience.
Sound Quality
The sound output is surprisingly even. Due to the 13.4mm drivers, there is punchy bass, perfect for EDM or gym music, while vocals and highs are crisp. The Nothing X app adds more quality to the experience with EQ settings and an in-built hearing test to customize the sound. The treble can sometimes feel nippy at higher volumes, but for most people, the listening experience is adequate.
ANC and Transparency Mode
ANC performance is impressive for the price. It effectively reduces low-end noise like engines or fans. Transparency mode, while not the most natural, still allows situational awareness. There’s also adaptive ANC that tweaks cancellation based on your environment. Though subtle, this feature adds convenience in varying settings.
Call Quality
The Buds 2 Plus feature AI-driven noise cancellation that performs well on calls. The voice is clear and background noise is significantly reduced. Even in a busy place, voice clarity is robust, making them a reliable choice for heavy callers.
Battery Life
With ANC switched off, the buds give a maximum of 8 hours of playtime, and the case extends overall playback to 43 hours. Enabling ANC drops that to 6 hours, which is decent. USB-C charging port has fast charging support—10 minutes of charging can provide a couple of hours of playtime.
Nothing X App Features
The Nothing X companion app provides decent control. You can remap touch gestures, adjust the EQ, switch between ANC modes, and even see whether the buds are fully sealed in your ears with the fit test. The app is intuitive both on Android and iOS.
