Apple iPhone Ultra Leaks: Book-Style Foldable Design, 2nm A20 Chip, and Sky-High India Price Tag

Apple is reportedly prepping to shake up its smartphone strategy with a brand new form factor, like the kind you don’t see every year. Old industry leaks or maybe kind of industry rumors say that alongside the usual iPhone 18 Pro lineup, Apple will also launch its first ever foldable handset, and yeah it’s heavily rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra (or maybe the iPhone Fold).

Instead of being just another super premium slab style phone, this device is expected to bring a passport like folding layout, placing it right at the absolute absolute top shelf of Apple’s hardware lineup.

iPhone Ultra Expected India Launch Timeline and Pricing

As Apple’s most complex, and really pricey hardware effort so far, the iPhone Ultra is pretty much set to crank up a whole new financial tier for itself. With all that involved structural engineering, production is expected to stay rooted in China at first, so import duties could end up nudging local retail prices a lot higher:

Apple usually uses some kind of rough rule where $1 becomes ₹100 for its flagship launches in India, mostly because of taxes and local adjustments. If you look at the global entry hurdle being around $2,000 then the base variants are basically pushed toward crossing ₹2.1 Lakh pretty easily, so it ends up feeling about twice the price of a typical Pro-tier device, like that standard you’d expect.

Display and Performance

Leaked blueprints outline a book-style folding architecture for the iPhone Ultra, kind of, focusing on an ultra-slim profile around 4.5mm to 4.8mm thickness, a liquid metal hinge and a seam that is near invisible. The device reportedly shows a 5.5-inch OLED cover display, plus a huge 7.8-inch inner foldable screen, like the kind you don’t notice until it’s open. Powering the foldable, Apple’s next-gen 2nm A20 chipset is mentioned, paired with 12GB of RAM, meant to handle advanced Apple Intelligence tasks without much stalling.

But to get that sleek look, Apple made several key compromises, honestly. The physical SIM tray is removed globally for an eSIM-only approach and Face ID is replaced with a side-mounted Touch ID sensor inside the power button area. On top of that, Apple’s custom C2 modem is integrated for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G connectivity, so the whole thing feels more “connected” than before.

Camera Setup

The camera hardware is, like, streamlined too, just to save some internal space, and it kind of skips the usual Pro Max triple lens thing. It goes with a dual back array instead, made up of a 48 megapixel primary camera and a 48 megapixel ultra wide lens, and it basically drops any dedicated telephoto, or even a periscope style zoom sensor. So for the long range look, it leans on computational high pixel cropping. For the front, video work is split too, with an 18 megapixel punch hole camera sitting on the outer cover and a hidden 24 megapixel under display camera under the big inner screen.
