EPFO: Big news for EPFO members. PF is deducted from the salary of employees, but not all of them have a PF account. An investigation by EPFO in about 800 companies in Gautam Buddha Nagar uncovered a common issue – employees in these companies are not registered for PF yet. These companies have been given a deadline until October 31st to rectify this, or face consequences.
Notices have been issued by EPFO to these companies, instructing them to ensure that their employees are enrolled in PF. The department has warned that failure to complete this process within the given timeframe may lead to action against the companies.
EPFO emphasizes that it is the responsibility of companies to register their employees for PF. This not only helps employees save for the future but also offers financial security during challenging times. Despite these benefits, many companies are failing to enroll their employees in PF. Companies from various sectors like restaurants, manpower suppliers, building contractors, and transport companies have been identified to complete PF registration for their employees by October 31.
EPFO is actively educating companies and employees about PF regulations and their entitlements through a campaign. Companies are being guided on how to carry out PF registration. If companies do not comply with the regulations even after October 31st, EPFO will take action against them. The EPFO will then assess the number of companies that have included their employees in the PF scheme.
What if enrollment doesn’t happen even by the deadline?
If the directives are not followed even after the deadline, action will be initiated against the concerned establishments. The EPFO will assess compliance by the identified companies after October 31. This process aims to bring companies under the ambit of the regulations and ensure that more workers are officially covered under the PF, which provides future financial security, pension or investment benefits, and social security benefits such as insurance and other facilities.
