PF interest now in the account till July 15, earlier it used to take time till October-November
The biggest change is related to the processing of the annual interest of EPF. Now auto-processing of EPF interest is happening for the first time in the new system.
The EPF interest at the rate of 8.25 per cent for the financial year 2025-26 will be transferred to about 34 crore accounts by 15 July 2026.
"Earlier, after the announcement of EPF interest, it used to take time till October-November for the interest to reach the account. Now this process has become automated and time bound. A total of over Rs 1.44 lakh crore interest will be credited to all accounts by July 15. "
Subscribers will be able to check it online and the interest amount will be credited directly to their PF account.
Same-day settlement of claims up to Rs 2.5 lakh
Now there will be auto settlement of claims up to Rs 5 lakh. Mandaviya said that under this, the money will be transferred to the member's bank account on the day of settlement. Earlier the claim settlement used to take several days or weeks, but now this process has been fully automated.
Further, the interest in the final PF settlement will now be calculated till the date of payment authorisation. Earlier, the interest was calculated only till the last day of the previous month, due to which some amount could not be received by the members. Now this gap is also over.
Pension can now be taken from anywhere in the country.
This is a big relief for pensioners. EPS pensioners will be able to take service from any PF office and submit the life certificate anywhere. Earlier, they used to get pensions from the same branch office where their pension payment order was linked.
Now pensioners will be able to take pension in their bank account anywhere in the country. That is, even if you shift to any city, you will not have to go to another city or depend on a particular office to get a pension.
Automatic transfer of PF on change of job
The process of PF transfer on changing jobs has also become fully automatic.
PF accounts with Aadhaar-linked UAN will be automatically transferred and service history will also be transferred in the same manner. This will ensure continuity of service period for pension entitlement.
Earlier, changing jobs required approval of the EPFO office along with the previous and new employer and a separate claim for transfer of service history was required. Now all this process will be done automatically, which will give a big relief to crores of employees who have changed their jobs.
Reduced chances of rejection
In the new system, members will know how much amount they can withdraw while filing a claim. There will be an automated pre-validation of the claim application, in which any deficiency will be reported online and through SMS and members will be able to give it online.
This will reduce the chances of rejection. Earlier, many claims were rejected due to minor mistakes or lack of information and members had to apply again.
Now this problem will be solved. Apart from this, after logging in to the Unified Member Portal, members will get complete information including PF balance, claim status, pensionable service record and benefits taken at one place.
Other important changes for members
Apart from these five major changes, the Unified Member Portal has also upgraded from the new centralized system. Now members will get their complete PF and pension related information on a single platform.
They don't have to go to different places. Mandaviya said the system will make the EPFO more transparent and accountable and also reduce grievances of members.
Conclusion
This centralized IT system of EPFO has made PF and pension related services easier, faster and transparent than ever before.
The PF interest will now be available in the account till July 15, the settlement of claims up to 5 lakh will be done on the same day, the pension can be taken from anywhere, and the PF will be transferred automatically when the job changes.
These changes will provide a big relief to about 34 crore PF accounts and lakhs of pensioners. If your PF account is also recovering 8.25% interest, don't forget to check it by July 15.
