Rajpal Yadav’s Bail Rejected – Famous actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav is currently going through the most difficult phase of his life. He is currently serving his sentence in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with a multi-crore debt case. A bail hearing was held in the Delhi High Court on February 12th, but the court’s strict stance dashed his hopes.
Sought time off for niece’s wedding, court reprimanded
Rajpal Yadav had applied for bail to attend his niece’s wedding. His lawyer argued that he wanted to resolve the matter, but Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma reprimanded the actor.
The court clearly stated:
“Rajpal’s imprisonment is not due to a court order, but a result of his own actions. Since he has confessed to his crime, there is no question of stopping his sentence.”
Why was Rajpal Yadav imprisoned?
This entire case dates back to 2010. Rajpal Yadav took a loan of approximately ₹5 crore from a Delhi businessman (Murli Projects) to make his film “Aata Pata Lapata.” With interest, this amount has grown to around ₹9 crore.
Flop Film and Increased Debt: Rajpal’s film flopped badly at the box office.
Breach of Promise: The court gave him 25-30 chances to repay the money, but the payment remained unpaid.
Reason for Surrender: When Rajpal was unable to repay the money, he surrendered on February 5th, respecting the law. The court sentenced him to 6 months’ imprisonment.

Seeing Rajpal Yadav’s plight, the entire film industry has rallied behind his back. It is reported that several major stars have pledged financial assistance:
Actors like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Sonu Sood, and Varun Dhawan have pledged their support.
Mika Singh has donated ₹1.1 million (1.1 million rupees) and Anup Jalota ₹5 million (5 million rupees).
Businessman Rao Inderjit Singh has provided Rajpal with significant assistance of ₹1.11 million (1.1 million rupees).
FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) has also appealed to industry members to unite.
What will happen next?
Rajpal’s lawyer says he has paid over ₹3 million (3 million rupees) so far and is ready to deposit the remaining ₹2.1 million (2.1 million rupees) soon. The Delhi High Court has now scheduled February 16 (Monday) for the next hearing on his bail plea.
Rajpal’s wife and manager are hopeful that he will be released soon, thanks to the support he is receiving from the industry.
