Panchayat Season 4 Full Review : Remember the year 2020, when we first met Phulera village? Who would have thought that a small village would make such a deep place in our hearts! The fourth season of ‘Panchayat’ has arrived on Amazon Prime Video on June 24 and once again we are ready to dive into the world of Secretary Ji, Pradhan Ji and Manju Devi. But the question is, did this season live up to our expectations, which were raised by the previous three seasons? Let’s know in depth!
Story: Phulera caught in the election storm
The story of Season 4 starts exactly where Season 3 ended – the election atmosphere in Phulera has heated up after the attack on Pradhan Ji. This time there is a close contest between Manju Devi (Neena Gupta) and Kranti Devi (Sunita Rajwar) for the chair of Pradhan. On one side, Manju Devi is in the fray with the election symbol of gourd, and on the other side, Kranti Devi is with the symbol of pressure cooker.
Our dear Secretary Ji (Jitendra Kumar) is still waiting for his CAT exam results, and is also worried about the case of raising hands on Banrakas. And yes, his love story with Rinki (Sanvika) is also taking a new turn in this season.
Acting: Old team, same magic!
The soul of this series is its characters, and the actors have once again proved why they are our favourites:
Jitendra Kumar (Secretary Ji): Jitendra Kumar has now truly become Secretary Ji! His character now seems to be his second nature. He was also seen in a little action mode in this season, which was quite interesting.
Neena Gupta (Manju Devi): Neena Gupta’s acting is excellent in this season too. Her character has come out even more in the election environment. Her dialogue delivery and expressions win hearts.
Raghubir Yadav (Pradhan Ji): Raghubir Yadav’s performance was strong as always. He has shown the pain after being shot and the pressure of elections very effectively.
Supporting Cast: Durgesh Kumar (Banarakas), Faizal Malik (Prahlad Cha) and Sunita Rajwar (Kranti Devi) have played their characters with full intensity. Especially Durgesh Kumar’s acting has been really impressive in this season. Banarakas’ character seemed even more entertaining this time.
Writing and Direction: Did you feel something was lacking?
Chandan Kumar’s writing did not seem as sharp this time as it was in the previous seasons. In the previous seasons, even small dialogues used to say deep things, but this time perhaps that did not happen. The atmosphere has been created under the direction of Deepak Kumar Mishra and Akshat Vijayvargiya, but the story did not have the tightness that has been the specialty of this show. It seemed that some things were a bit stretched.
What did you like?
The nuances of rural politics have been shown very well. This thing has always been the plus point of ‘Panchayat’.
All the actors are seen completely immersed in their characters, which makes the show realistic.
Electoral corruption and power games have been presented in the right way, which is the truth of today’s time.
This time the relationship between Rinki and Secretary ji has been taken forward, which the fans had been waiting for a long time.
What was missing?
In some episodes, the pacing seemed slow and it seemed that there was more filler content.
The comedy seemed a bit less compared to the previous seasons. ‘Panchayat’ is known for its subtle humor, which seemed a bit faded this time.
In order to make 8 episodes, the story was forcibly stretched somewhere, which made it feel boring at some places.
Characters like Rinki did not get enough screen time, even though they had potential.
Watch or not?
‘Panchayat Season 4’ is a mediocre season that did not fully live up to our expectations. The story did not have the same power that it had in the previous seasons. The old magic of Phulera seems to have been lost somewhere. If you are a die-hard fan of ‘Panchayat’ then you can watch this season, but do not keep high expectations. This season will not disappoint you, but it may not create the same magic as the previous seasons.
