NEET UG 2025 Counselling : The way for admission in medical colleges for NEET UG 2025 may now open soon. Although the date of counseling has not been officially announced by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) yet, during a recent hearing in the Delhi High Court, it has come to light that counseling can start from July 1, 2025. However, no notice has been issued in this regard on the MCC website yet.

What was mentioned in the court?

A student has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, in which he told that there was a glitch in biometric verification on the day of NEET UG exam, due to which he was mentally very stressed. The student also appealed that he should be given additional marks as compensation. During the hearing on this, the lawyer said that counseling can start from July 1, so a decision should be taken as soon as possible. This argument has definitely indicated the possible date of counseling.

NEET 2025: How many students passed the exam

This year, more than 22 lakh students participated in NEET UG, out of which 12.36 lakh candidates have passed the exam. But, the number of medical seats is much less than this. At present, there are a total of 780 medical colleges in the country, in which about 1,18,190 MBBS seats are available.

How is the process of NEET counseling done?

NEET counseling is divided into two parts. One is All India Quota (AIQ) and the other is State Quota. Under the All India Quota, MCC conducts counseling for 15% of the seats across the country. At the same time, counseling for 85% of the state quota is conducted by each state’s own medical authority.

For which colleges will MCC conduct counseling?

The counselling conducted by MCC does not only include 15% of the government seats of All India Quota, but 100% seats of some prominent institutes are also included in this process. The prominent institutes among these are:

  • All MBBS seats of AIIMS and JIPMER
  • 100% seats of BHU and AMU
  • 15% seats of universities like DU, IP University, VMMC, ABVIMS
  • MCC also conducts the counselling process for the seats of all these institutes.

What next?

At present, no date related to counselling has been announced on the MCC website mcc.nic.in. But from the discussion held in the court, it is believed that the counselling process can start in the first week of July. Now all eyes are on the official announcement of MCC.
