UPSC ESE Exam Date 2026 OUT: The notification for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination has been released. According to a notification issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the date for the Engineering Services Prelims Examination has been announced. The examination will be held on February 8, 2026.

The UPSC Engineering Services Prelims Examination will be conducted in two shifts. The first paper, General Studies and Engineering Aptitude, will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. This paper will be standard for all branches and will carry a total of 200 marks. The second paper, a branch-specific paper, will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm and will have a total of 300 marks.
The examination will be conducted for four engineering branches: Civil Engineering (Code 11), Mechanical Engineering (Code 21), Electrical Engineering (Code 31), and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (Code 41). The standard code for the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude papers will be 01, which is mandatory for all candidates.
How many posts will be filled?
A total of 474 posts will be filled through the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2026. Selection for these posts will be made in various engineering departments of the central government. The entire examination process will be completed in three stages: the preliminary examination, the main examination, and a personality test (interview).
Candidates who qualify for the preliminary examination will be eligible to appear for the main examination. Final selection will then be made based on their performance in both the main examination and the interview.
