JEE Mains 2026 Exam: Rules Implemented

This year, several important updates have been added to the JEE Mains registration process to ensure error-free and streamlined applications.

Live Photo Mandatory: Candidates must capture and upload a live photo using a webcam or mobile camera when applying. Old or edited images will no longer be accepted.

Aadhaar or DigiLocker Verification: Aadhaar card or DigiLocker verification will be required to verify candidates’ identity. Those who do not have one will be required to upload a scanned copy of a valid identity proof.

UDID Card Mandatory: Candidates with disabilities will be required to upload their UDID card at the time of registration.

Calculators Banned: NTA has clarified that no calculators or electronic devices will be allowed during the exam.

JEE Main 2026 Registration Process – Step by Step

The registration process is divided into five steps this time:

Phase 1 – Registration: Candidates will visit jeemain.nta.nic.in to enter their basic information, create a password, and register. The system will then generate an application number.

Step 2 – Fill out the application form – Enter your personal and educational information and select the exam centre.e Then, scan the QR code and take a live photo.

Step 3 – Document Upload: Passport-size colour photo: 10–200 KB (JPG/JPEG), Signature: 10–100 KB, Class 10 certificate/marksheet: 50–300 KB (PDF)
UDID/Category Certificate (if applicable): 50–300 KB (PDF)

Step 4 – Fee Payment: Now pay the fee via debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI.

Step 5 – Confirmation Page Download: Download the confirmation page generated after successful payment and save it for future reference.

JEE Mains 2026 Exam: Points to Note

  • The uploaded photo must be a recent colour photo with a clear face.
  • Double-check all information before submitting the application form.
  • Providing incorrect or incomplete information may result in the application being rejected.
