Pm Awas Yojna Update: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been started by the Government of India, which is a government home loan scheme. This scheme was launched in June 2015. Through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, houses are provided to all the poor citizens of the country at low cost. 

Under this scheme, the subsidy is provided to economically weaker sections, low-income groups, and middle-income group families to build or buy houses. Recently the government has made some changes in the eligibility of PMAY.

HOW PM AWAS YOJNA STARTED

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has started to bridge the growing gap between demand and supply of housing in urban areas. Through this scheme, the rehabilitation of huts with the help of private developers and affordable housing for the poor is being promoted through credit credit-linked subsidy scheme. 

Under this scheme, a subsidy for house construction is provided by the government. Under PMAY, the subsidy amount is sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary by the government.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana aims to provide houses to the poor at low cost. The Union Cabinet has extended the implementation period of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban with all sectors except the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme till 31 December 2024. Apart from this, the total target of pucca houses has also been revised to Rs 295 crore.

Changes made in eligibility for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

The applicant must be a citizen of India.

The beneficiary family should not have a permanent house.

Not availing the benefit of any housing scheme of the Government of India or State Government.

For EWS, the annual income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs 6 lakh.

The annual income of the beneficiary coming under LIG should be more than Rs 6 lakh and less than Rs 12 lakh.

The annual income of the MIG-I beneficiary should be less than Rs 12 lakh or Rs 18 lakh.

For MIG-II the annual income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs 18 lakh.

The process to apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

To apply online under PMAY, first of all, you have to go to the official website of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. After this, the home page of the website will open in front of you. On the home page, you will have to click on the option of Citizen Assessment and click on the option of Apply Online.

After this, you will have to enter your Aadhar card number. After entering the Aadhaar number, you will have to click on the Check option to verify. As soon as you click, the PMAY application page will open in front of you.

You have to enter all the required details on this page including your details, income details, bank account details, and other necessary information. After entering all the information you have to tick the I am aware check box.

After this, you will have to enter the given captcha code and click on the Save option. As soon as you click, you will receive a unique application number. You have to download and print the filled application form.

After this, you will have to go to your nearest Common Service Centre or Financial Institution/Bank and submit the form along with supporting documents. Thus you can apply online to avail subsidy on a home loan under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
