DA Hike: Good news for some employees. Millions of government employees nationwide are eagerly anticipating an increase in their dearness allowance scheduled for July, with expectations ranging from 2 to 3 percent. Simultaneously, the government has raised the dearness allowance for CPSE employees to mitigate the impact of escalating inflation on their monthly finances.
The Department of Public Enterprises, a segment of the Central Government, has boosted the Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) and unveiled the new IDA rates. This adjustment will benefit officers and non-union supervisors of CPSEs, which are companies owned by the Central Government.

The increase in dearness allowance varies for CPSE employees under different pay scales, namely those from 1987, 1997, 2007, and 2017, and it is linked to the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI).
– Dearness allowance for employees in the 1987 pay scale is set at Rs 18,298
– Dearness allowance for employees in the 1997 pay scale has surged to 476.9%
– Dearness allowance for employees in the 2007 pay scale has risen to 241.7%
– Dearness allowance for employees in the 2017 pay scale has climbed to 55.7%

Employees of various CPSEs, including Maharatna companies like GAIL and BHEL, Navratna companies like HAL and MTNL, and Mini Ratna companies like IRCTC and RailTel, will reap the benefits of this increase.
The salary hike resulting from the increase in dearness allowance is directly proportional to the rate of increase. For instance, an employee on the 2017 pay scale with a basic salary of Rs 60,000 stands to receive around Rs 33,420 as dearness allowance at a rate of 55.7%, bringing their total earnings to Rs 93,420. Similarly, an employee on the 2007 pay scale with a basic salary of Rs 15,000 can expect an additional Rs 33,255 as dearness allowance, raising their total earnings to Rs 51,255. Additional allowances will be disbursed separately.
The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), under the Central Government, has issued an official notification regarding the revised rates of Industrial Dearness Allowance. This increase has been made based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). The new rates will benefit officers and non-union supervisors working in Central Government-owned companies, or CPSEs. The government periodically reviews inflation data and revises the IDA to mitigate the impact of rising prices on employees’ incomes.
