CNG PNG Price: Big relief for people. The Union Territory of Chandigarh has received significant relief on CNG and PNG prices. The Chandigarh administration has reduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate on natural gas from 12.5 percent to 5 percent. This represents a reduction of more than 7 percent.
What advantages will this bring?
Consumers in Chandigarh will enjoy tax savings through this policy, which reduces VAT on compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped cooking gas (PNG). According to an official announcement, this VAT cut aims to make natural gas more accessible to residents and encourage the growth and development of natural gas infrastructure throughout the city. The policy took effect starting at midnight on September 18.
Bharat Taxi launches in Chandigarh
Chandigarh recently welcomed the launch of India’s first cooperative-based online ride-hailing platform, called “Bharat Taxi,” on Friday. The Chandigarh Administration’s Cooperation Department hosted the inauguration event, where Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, serving as the chief guest, digitally launched Bharat Taxi and then sent off the first fleet of vehicles.
About Bharat Taxi
Bharat Taxi serves as a new option compared to popular services like Ola, Uber, and other private app-based ride services. The launch happens as the Chandigarh administration has revoked the operating licenses of Ola, Uber, InDrive, and Rapido for a six-month period.
What sets Bharat Taxi apart is its cooperative structure. Drivers, referred to as “Saarthi,” are treated as partners in the business rather than mere employees. Once they pass verification, Saarthi members can invest Rs 500 to buy five shares and participate in the platform’s future earnings. The service operates commission-free, meaning drivers keep all their ride earnings without paying any platform fees and receive payments directly from passengers. The platform prioritizes fair and consistent pricing rather than surge pricing during busy times.
To join as a driver, individuals can sign up through the Bharat Taxi app. Required documents include a valid driving license, Aadhaar card, vehicle registration details, and a photograph. Once verified, drivers gain immediate access to the platform. Passengers can book cabs, bikes, or autos through the app.
