CBSE Board Exams: Registration for Private Students – Important news has emerged for students planning to appear for the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the application process for both classes.

Students should complete the application process online via the board’s official website within the stipulated dates. The board has issued separate notices for private candidates appearing in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for the 2026-27 academic session. Candidates must complete the application process on the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in.

Who can apply?
Students who failed in previous board exams or were placed in the ‘Compartment’ or ‘Essential Repeat’ categories can also fill out the exam form and appear for the examination.

Important Dates
Application start date: October 8, 2026
Last date to fill the exam form without a late fee: October 23, 2026
Last date to apply with late fee: October 24 to October 30, 2026

Deadline: October 30, 2026
Students who have already passed but wish to improve their performance in one or more subjects may also apply, subject to CBSE’s eligibility criteria. Candidates unable to fill out the form by the regular deadline can submit it between October 24 and October 30 by paying a late fee of ₹2,000. No forms will be accepted after October 30, 2026. The Class 12 notification covers all eligible categories under CBSE rules, including candidates in the ‘Essential Repeat’, ‘Compartment’, ‘Fail/Essential Repeat’, and ‘Improvement’ categories.

Application Fee
Students are required to pay a fee of ₹320 per subject to fill out the private examination form. Students from Nepal must pay ₹1,100 per subject, while students from other countries must pay ₹2,200 per subject. An additional fee of ₹2,000 applies for applications submitted with a late fee.
