The Jharkhand government is making big decisions one after another before the elections. Employees from various sectors have been demanding a salary hike for a long time. In some cases, the hike was promised but got delayed. However, this time, it was announced without any delay. Recently, the government approved a significant salary hike for multipurpose workers (MPWs) in the health department.
Salary Increase Details
In a surprise move, multipurpose workers (MPWs) will now receive an additional Rs 5,000, raising their monthly salary from Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. This increase will be effective from September 1, 2024. Additionally, workers will get arrears for the months in which they did not receive the increased amount.
Why Was the Salary Increased?
Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari called this hike a “gift” for workers ahead of Holi and Ramzan. He thanked the Chief Minister and officials for making this decision. The demand for a salary hike had been pending for a long time, as MPWs play a key role in health programs like malaria eradication. The workers welcomed this move and expressed their gratitude to the government.
