Weather Update: The intense summer heat is clear from the daytime highs. But good news! The weather folks are saying we might see a drop in temperatures over the next couple of days. Some areas in North Bengal could even get a bit of light rain.
Possibilities of rain
In Darjeeling, there’s a chance of very light rain until Sunday, with some scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Kalimpong’s hilly regions are also expecting light rain. There’s a warning for light rain with thunder from Friday through Monday. While four districts might see some scattered rain, the rest will stay dry. Saturday is expected to bring more rain, possibly with thunder in those four districts.
Light rain is on the cards for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri too. On Sunday, only Darjeeling is likely to get rain with thunder, and then Darjeeling and Kalimpong might see light rain on Monday. Even with the rain, temperatures are not expected to change much over the next 4-5 days, according to the Alipur Meteorological Department.
Temperatures may drop by another two to three degrees
In South Bengal, we might see temperatures drop by another two to three degrees Celsius in the next couple of days. Right now, the sky is clear, and there’s no rain in sight for the week. The mornings and evenings will be pleasantly mild, but daytime temperatures will rise. Nights might feel a bit uncomfortable. Expect a slight drop in temperatures on Thursday and Friday.
Weather in Kolkata
The temperature in Kolkata is expected to drop to a low of 20 degrees Celsius and rise to a high of 30 degrees Celsius. However, starting Saturday, temperatures will begin to climb again over the weekend, potentially reaching 33-34 degrees Celsius in Kolkata and 36-37 degrees Celsius in the surrounding areas.
In Kolkata, the mornings and evenings are quite pleasant as spring approaches. It tends to get a bit hot and humid as the day goes on, but there’s no rain in the forecast for now. Tonight’s temperature is around 22.2 degrees, while tomorrow it will be about 32.4 degrees. The humidity levels in the air range from 23 to 88 percent.
