The Uttar Pradesh government has given a big relief to ex-servicemen and Divyangjans. Now they will also get an exemption from stamp duty, which was earlier given only to women. This announcement was made in a meeting of the Stamp and Registration Department, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave several instructions to make government work more efficiently. Under this decision, ex-servicemen and Divyangjans will now get a discount of 1% on buying property up to ₹ 1 crore.
Rules changed for women, too

This discount is not limited to ex-servicemen and Divyangjans only. Under the new policy, women will now get a discount of 1% on buying property (land or house) up to ₹ 1 crore in their name. Earlier, this discount was only on properties up to ₹ 10 lakh, in which a maximum discount of ₹ 10,000 was available. But this new decision will also benefit women a lot, and they will be more financially empowered.
E-payment is mandatory for the registration fee
After a successful pilot project in five districts, the chief minister has made e-payment mandatory in all districts for registration fees above ₹20,000, PTI reported. Besides, instructions have also been given to implement Aadhaar authentication to prevent fraud and a single-window e-registration system to simplify procedures for allottees of development authorities.
Emphasis on digitisation and transparency

The chief minister has also directed officials to fill vacant posts as soon as possible. He also said that more options for stamp sales should be explored, and the commission of vendors should be rationalised. He also announced the waiver of stamp duty and registration fee on lease agreements up to 10 years for small and medium-scale rentals.
In the meeting, officials informed that 99% of the documents registered from 2002 to 2017 have been digitised, while currently more than 98% of the registrations are being done through e-stamp. They also informed that the assessment lists have been revised in all the districts to remove anomalies, and CCTV cameras are being installed in the sub-registrar offices to enhance security.
