How the new rules apply to people

The list of documents issued by UIDAI applies to Indian citizens, Indian citizens living abroad (OCI cardholders) and children above 5 years of age and people living in India on an ong tisa (LTV).

Which documents will be required to get a new Aadhaar card made and updated?

Four documents are required for Aadhaar by UIDAI, which include identity proof, address proof, date of birth proof and relationship proof.

Documents for identity proof

Passport, PAN card, voter ID card, driving license, photo ID issued by government/PSU, NREGA job card, pensioner ID card, CGHS/ECHS card, transgender ID card, etc.

Documents for address proof

Electricity/water/gas/landline bill (less than 3 months old), bank passbook or bank statement, ration card, passport, driving license, rent agreement (registered), pension documents, residence certificate document issued by the state/central government, etc.

Documents for changing the date of birth

School mark sheet, passport, pension document containing date of birth, state/central government certificate containing date of birth, documents, etc.

How to update Aadhaar online?

UIDAI has provided the facility to update Aadhaar online. For this, log in to myAadhaar portal. After this, scan and upload the copies of proof of identity, proof of address, proof of date of birth and proof of relationship. For this, use biometric verification or OTP facility. When the update is complete, download e-Aadhaar.
