UIDAI– Aadhaar Card has become an important government document in today’s time. It is used to enroll children in school, to avail government schemes and in many government and non-government places. But people have to face some problems in getting it made and updated. Now the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken a big decision regarding the biometric update of children. Actually UIDAI is working on a project to update the biometrics of children through schools.

CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar of the Unique Identification Authority of India said that more than seven crore children across the country have not updated their biometrics for Aadhaar. Whereas according to UIDAI rules, this process is mandatory after the age of five years.

Biometric machines will be sent to schools

Now UIDAI is working on a plan to update the biometrics of children (Biometric Aadhaar Card Update) through schools with the consent of parents. This plan can be implemented on the ground in the next 45 to 60 days. This will eliminate the need to go to the Aadhaar center and your child’s biometrics will be updated in the school itself. Under this project, UIDAI will send biometric machines to every district, which will be taken from one school to another.

According to the current rules of UIDAI, if the child’s biometric update is not done even after the age of seven, then Aadhaar will become inactive. If Aadhaar is updated between the age of five to seven years, then it will be updated for free. Whereas after the age of seven, a fee of Rs 100 will have to be paid.

UIDAI CEO said while explaining the future plan, ‘We are planning to implement the second update process in schools and colleges, which is done after the children complete 15 years of age.’ Currently, Aadhaar of newborns and children below five years of age is made without their ‘biometric’.
