How will the damage caused by falling trees be covered?

According to Mazumder, if you have parked your vehicle outside and a tree falls due to a storm or heavy rain, then this loss is covered under the Comprehensive Motor Insurance Policy. In this policy, the damage caused due to natural disasters such as floods, storms, cyclones, and incidents like the falling of trees is covered in the ‘Own Damage’ section.
For what things is the expense covered?
Majumdar says that the insurance company pays for the expenses, especially for things like the roof, bonnet, and windscreen. However, the claim can be made as per the terms and conditions.
He has clarified that in such a claim, the policyholder has to bear the deductible amount himself. This means that the insurance company does not pay the full amount. If you do not have zero depreciation cover, then the amount can also be reduced according to the decreasing price of the parts.
Precautions to be kept in mind while making a claim
- The insurance company should be informed within 24 to 72 hours of the accident.
- Do not drive the vehicle without a survey, and do not start repairs.
- Keep photos and videos, etc., so that the claim support can be strengthened.
- In serious cases, the local body or police report may be required.
Is it necessary to take an add-on?

Majumdar said that people living in areas with heavy monsoon rains and storms should take add-ons like zero depreciation, engine protection, and return to invoice. These add-ons help in reducing expenses and simplifying the claim process.
