Indian Railways: With summer holidays around the corner, most tourists are finding it difficult to book confirmed train tickets as demand is high. To counter this, Indian Railways has announced running several summer special trains so that passengers can travel comfortably to their destinations during the holiday season.

Large Summer Special Train Services

Indian Railways is set to operate about 1,200 summer special train trips to handle the peak in passenger traffic. Western Railway will operate nearly 930 trips, covering important places across states. Central Railway has come out with 356 trips, connecting destinations like Mumbai-Nagpur, Mumbai-Karmali, and

Improved Connectivity Across Regions

These special trains will link key states such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Telangana, and Karnataka. For example, trains like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Nagpur bi-weekly special will operate from April 6 to June 29, leaving CSMT at 12:20 AM and arriving in Nagpur by 3:30 PM on the same day.

More Coaches for Passenger Comfort

To further simplify the travel experience, around 300 general second-class coaches have been added to these special trains. The move will help to cut down on waitlists and increase seating capacity for passengers during peak travel periods.

Booking and Travel Information

Bookings of these summer special trains started from March 24. The passengers can reserve their tickets from Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter or IRCTC website. It is preferable to book early and plan beforehand to get the confirmed seats because these special services are likely to have a great demand.

Safety Measures and Passenger Assistance

Indian Railways takes utmost care for the safety and comfort of passengers during holidays. Safety measures include station deployment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff to handle crowds and facilitate travelers. CCTV monitoring is also installed to monitor activity and offer instant support, providing a smooth and safe journey to all travelers.
