Train Ticket Discount- Passengers pay attention. If you are planning to go out or go home this festive season, then there is a great news from the railways. Indian Railways has started a special offer for its passengers, in which if you book both the tickets together, then you will get a direct discount of 20 percent. To take advantage of this scheme, the railways have also launched a new mobile app, named RailOne. If you want, you can also book these tickets from the counter by going to the railway station.
When will you get the benefit on travel?
Railways have fixed specific dates for this scheme. You will get discounts only if you travel on these dates. Your outward journey should be between 13 October to 26 October 2025. Whereas, the return journey should be between 17 November to 1 December 2025. Keep in mind, this discount will be available only if you book tickets for both sides together. Meaning, you cannot book tickets for the return journey on different days. Also, the station, train class and number of passengers should also be the same.
How to book through RailOne app?
Railways has launched a new mobile app for the convenience of passengers – RailOne. This app runs on both Android and iPhone. It is very easy to book tickets through this. First of all download the RailOne app on your mobile. After opening the app, you can log in with mPIN or fingerprint. After this, you will see an option ‘Avail Festive Package’ on the homepage of the app. The booking process starts from here.
Now first of all, enter the details of your journey. Like from where to where and what is the date (between 13 to 26 October). After booking the ticket, you will get the PNR number. Then, you will get another option in the app, Book Return Ticket (20% Discount). After clicking here, the app will automatically fill in your station, class and passenger details. Now you just have to choose the return date (between 17 November to 1 December). As soon as you make the payment, you will get a direct 20% discount on the ticket.
Discount can also be availed from the ticket counter?
If you do not want to book tickets through the mobile app, then it is okay. You can also avail this scheme from the reservation counter of the railway station. The only condition is that you have to book tickets for both the trips in one go and the dates should be the same as mentioned in the scheme.
This scheme is for everyone, but with some conditions. This discount will be available only if both your journeys, going and coming, are within the stipulated dates. Ticket booking should be done simultaneously. If you book the ticket at two different times, then you will not get the discount. Also, the station, class and number of passengers in both the journeys should be the same. With the RailOne app, you can not only get tickets, but also get facilities like live location of the train, order food and taxi booking.
