Traffic Challan Rules: Knowing traffic rules is extremely important for safe driving on the roads. Often, people unknowingly violate the rules, which can lead to heavy fines or legal action. Here, we are explaining the new traffic rules and their penalties in simple language.

Know the New Rules:

  • Overspeeding – If you exceed the speed limit while driving a car or light vehicle, you may be fined between ₹1000 and ₹2000. This amount may vary on highways and expressways.

  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Driving under the influence of alcohol is very dangerous. If caught, you may face a fine of ₹10,000 and even imprisonment.
  • Not Wearing a Seatbelt – Not wearing a seatbelt in a car will result in a fine of ₹1000. Seatbelts are also essential for safety.
  • Driving Without a Driving License – If caught driving without a license, the fine is ₹5000.
  • Not Wearing a Helmet – Not wearing a helmet while riding a bike or scooter will result in a fine of ₹1000. Repeated violations may also lead to license suspension.
  • Using a Mobile Phone While Driving – Using a mobile phone while driving is a crime. Doing so can result in a fine of ₹5000.
  • Driving Without an RC (Registration Certificate) – If the vehicle does not have a Registration Certificate (RC), a fine of ₹3000 to ₹5000 may be imposed.
  • Three People on a Motorcycle – Often, only two people are allowed on a motorcycle. Carrying three people can result in a fine of ₹1000 and the risk of your driving license being canceled.

  • Driving Without Insurance – If you do not have insurance, you may be fined ₹2000 for the first offense, and ₹4000 for repeated violations.
