DA Hike – Good news for state government employees. The Bihar government has given a big gift to lakhs of employees and pensioners of the state. The state government has increased dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR). This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday.

According to the news agency report, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat S Siddharth said that the dearness allowance and relief for employees and pensioners covered under the 7th Pay Commission pay scale will now increase by two percentage points to 55 percent.

Apart from this, dearness allowance has been increased by 6 percentage points for employees coming under the 6th Pay Commission, due to which their DA/DR will increase to 252 percent. At the same time, dearness allowance has been increased by 11 percentage points for those coming under the 5th Pay Commission, due to which their DA/DR has increased to 466 percent.

According to officials, this decision will directly benefit more than 5 lakh employees and more than 6 lakh pensioners of the state. It was also clarified by the government that this increase will be considered effective from January 1, 2025. However, no detailed order has been issued yet on when it will be paid.

This decision of the state government is being considered a big step in the interest of the employees, which will give them some relief from rising inflation. This will not only increase financial security, but will also increase the trust of employees and retired people towards the government.

It is worth noting that the Central Government also revises the dearness allowance for its employees and pensioners from time to time, and the state governments generally take steps accordingly. Government employee organizations have expressed satisfaction over this decision.
