Recently, a video of a farmer from Latur district in Maharashtra went viral. The farmer, Ambadas Pawar, is 76 years old. He was seen working in the field with a plough on his shoulder, like a bull. For the last 10 years, he has been farming without a bull. He is poor and has a lot of debt. He did not get any help from the government.

The government has started many good schemes for farmers. But many farmers do not know about them. That is why they cannot get help.

Right now, all farmers are waiting for the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Under this scheme, farmers get ₹2000 three times a year. The next ₹2000 can be sent anytime this month. So, do not worry. Apart from this scheme, there are other helpful schemes too. These schemes can help with crop loss, old age, and money problems. Farmers should know about them and use them.

1. PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana – Pension for Small Farmers

  • This is a central government scheme for small and marginal farmers.
  • After the age of 60, farmers get a monthly pension of ₹3000.
  • To get this, farmers have to pay only ₹55 to ₹200 every month.
  • Only farmers aged between 18 and 40 years can apply.
  • The amount can also be paid from the PM-Kisan instalment.

2. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana – Insurance for Crop Loss

  1. This scheme helps farmers when crops get damaged.
  2. Farmers pay only 2% to 5% of the premium.
  3. The rest of the premium is paid by the government.
  4. In North East, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal, the government pays 100% premium.
  5. In case of crop loss, farmers get compensation from the insurance company.

3. Kisan Credit Card (KCC) – Easy Loan for Farmers

  • This card helps farmers who are in debt.
  • Farmers can get a loan of up to ₹3 lakh easily.
  • The government may increase the limit to ₹5 lakh soon.
  • The interest rate is only 4%, with a government subsidy.
  • This is given under the Modified Interest Subsidy Scheme.

4. PM Kusum Yojana – Solar Power for Irrigation

  • This scheme helps farmers use solar energy for farming.
  • Farmers get solar pumps and irrigation tools at a subsidised rate.
  • Farmers can also earn money by selling extra solar electricity.
  • 60% subsidy is given by the government, and 30% is available as a bank loan.
  • Farmers only need to pay 10% of the total cost.

5. PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana – Help for Irrigation

  1. This scheme gives irrigation tools on a subsidy.
  2. Small and marginal farmers get up to 55% subsidy.
  3. Other farmers get up to 45% subsidy from the government.
  4. The money is sent directly to the farmer’s account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
