New Delhi: The second half of 2025 is about to begin, which will also increase the wait for central employees. Now it has to be seen how much the central government increases DA in the second half of this year. If the rise in government spending is by two per cent, as it was in the past? This would be good news this time.

By the way, it is expected that the government will increase the DA by 3 per cent for the July-December half-year, which will benefit more than one crore families. The government will likely decide to increase the DA in August or September. However, such a claim is being made in media reports right now. The government has not issued an official statement yet.

How much will the DA increase?

The central government can increase the DA of central employees by up to 3 per cent this time. If this happens, the DA will increase to 58 per cent. Currently, central employees are receiving a 55 per cent DA benefit, which will prove to be a significant advantage. The increased DA rates will take effect on July 1, 2025.

Earlier, the central government had increased the DA by 2 per cent, which was subsequently increased to 5 per cent, effective from January 1, 2025. The government works to increase DA twice every year. Its rates are implemented from January 1 to July 1. However, the government has not yet officially announced the DA hike.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

There remains a cloud of doubt among central employees regarding the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. The Modi government had approved the formation of a new pay commission in January 2025; however, its committee has not been established yet. The new pay commission is likely to be implemented about 18 to 20 months after the committee is formed.

The new pay commission will not be implemented as of January 1, 2026. For this, one may have to wait for another year. As soon as the new pay commission is implemented, there is a possibility of seeing a record-breaking increase in the salaries of central employees.
