What is the Sugarcane Yantrikaran Scheme?
The Bihar government’s Sugarcane Yantrikaran Scheme has been launched to provide modern agricultural equipment to sugarcane farmers in the state. Under this scheme, when farmers purchase machines related to sugarcane production, the government provides them with a subsidy of 50 percent of the total cost. The application process has been kept completely online so that farmers do not face any difficulties. After the application, verification is done at two levels, and eligible farmers are selected through a lottery system.
What is the objective of the scheme?
The main objective of this scheme is to strengthen sugarcane farming in Bihar technologically. The use of machines will reduce both the time and labour involved in farming. This will improve the quality of production and increase farmers’ income per hectare. At the same time, new employment opportunities will also be created in ancillary activities related to farming.
Which farmers can benefit from the scheme?
The benefit of the Sugarcane Yantrikaran Scheme will be given only to those farmers in the state of Bihar who are actively engaged in sugarcane cultivation. The subsidy will be valid only when the farmer purchases agricultural machinery approved under the scheme. At the time of application, farmers must have their Aadhaar card, bank account details, caste certificate, and land-related documents.
How many machines can be subsidised?
Under this scheme, farmers can apply a maximum of three times in different phases. This means that a farmer can receive a subsidy for up to three agricultural machines. This will enable small and medium farmers to gradually empower their farming with modern machinery.
