Good news for state people. If you are planning for a third child then this article is for you. The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out an interesting initiative aimed at boosting population growth. As part of this program, women who have a third child will receive a cash reward of Rs 50,000. Plus, if the newborn is a boy, the mother will also receive a cow as a gift. This was shared by TDP MP Kalisetty Appala Naidu from Vijayanagaram.

Purpose of the initiative

The primary goal of this initiative is to address the declining birth rate in Andhra Pradesh and tackle demographic imbalances. The state government has noticed a steady drop in birth rates across South India, which could impact population dynamics in the future. MP Kalisetty Appala Naidu mentioned that he will personally fund the cash incentives from his salary.

Backing from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also highlighted the importance of promoting population growth. He admitted that he used to support family planning but is now reconsidering his stance. He emphasized that India needs a long-term strategy for population management to fully leverage its demographic advantages. Naidu stated, “If we can effectively manage our demographic dividend, India and its citizens can become even more robust in the future.”

Announcement of maternity leave

On International Women’s Day, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu declared that maternity leave for women employees will now apply to all children, expanding from the previous limit of two.
