Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh has announced a significant benefit for farmers. He stated that farmers will now operate with a 90-percent subsidy for the installation of solar pumps. The subsidy was formally requested at 40-percent but has been raised to 90-percent. This will allow farmers to further profit and strengthen agriculture in the state. As the Chief Minister stated, agriculture is more than 39 percent of the GDP of the state due to the hard work of farmers.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the farmers would receive a larger solar pump than the previous mechanical pumps. Farmers with a 3 HP pump will receive a 5 HP solar pump. Farmers with a 5 HP pump will receive a 7.5 HP solar pump.

Government Works to Increase Farmers’ Income

The government is working hard to increase farmers’ income.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the state government wants to double farmers’ income and improve their economic condition. He said when water reaches dry fields, crops become like gold. The government wants to make sure water reaches every farm. Solar energy is becoming important for this. It will give water to farmers and save electricity.

Solar Energy to Help Farmers

CM Mohan Yadav asked farmers to use solar pumps instead of temporary electricity connections. He said solar energy will help farmers irrigate their fields, generate extra electricity, and sell it to the government. This will increase their income. This is a long-term solution that will make farmers self-reliant.

Agriculture is very important for Madhya Pradesh’s economy. Because of farmers’ hard work, it contributes more than 39% to the state’s GDP. The state leads the country in producing grains, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, and vegetables. It also ranks first in oranges, spices, garlic, ginger, and coriander. This success comes from farmers’ efforts and government support.

Major Irrigation Projects

The Chief Minister said the government is working on big projects to improve irrigation. These include:

  • Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Project with Rajasthan
  • Ken-Betwa Project with Uttar Pradesh
  • Tapi Mega Recharge Project with Maharashtra
  • These projects will expand water supply and reach more farms.

The government is also giving subsidized solar pumps to 32 lakh farmers. This will make farmers energy self-sufficient, reduce costs, and allow them to sell extra electricity to the government.

So far, 52 lakh hectares of land have irrigation. The government now aims to reach 100 lakh hectares. The goal is to ensure every farmer has enough water, so farming does not depend only on the monsoon.

New Inclusion Under Bhavantar Yojana

For the first time, soybean is included under the Bhavantar Yojana. The scheme ensures farmers get a fair price for their crops. CM Yadav said this is more than a scheme—it is a relationship of trust between the government and farmers. He said, “Our aim is to give farmers their due before their sweat dries.”
