SIM Card Rule : We all have Jio or Airtel prepaid SIM. We sometimes even forget to recharge and leave the SIM unused for two days. That time, you should know ,for how many days SIM will be active without recharge? Let’s understand the new Jio and Airtel rule in simple words.

New Jio Rule:

If your Jio SIM isn’t being re-charged, outgoing calls will be suspended after 7 days of plan validity. Incoming calls will keep functioning until 90 days. But Jio has also been as strict with inactive numbers in the recent past. If your number has no recharge or activity for 90 days, the SIM will get de-activated. Even if your incoming is fine, you need to do a recharge so that your number remains protected. Jio also gives warning SMSes before the disconnection.

New Airtel Rule

Airtel also provides outgoing call support for around 15 days after your subscription has expired. Calls will continue to come in between 60 to 90 days depending on usage. Airtel will also block your number after 60 days in case of no top-up or zero usage, according to the new rule. Airtel has also started issuing reminders before disconnection permanently.

Why These Changes

Telecom companies have more stringent rules from TRAI now. They wish to deactivate dormant numbers and reduce unused SIMs. That is the reason Airtel and Jio now require a minimum of one recharge in 90 days to maintain your number alive.

What You Should Do

If you need to maintain your SIM activity alive, you’re constantly recharging tiny, between 28 and 84 days. Even ₹155 or ₹99 plans would barely be enough most of the time. And you must continue to make at least one call or mobile data usage to maintain activity going.

If not refilled, your SIM might be working properly for a while, but fresh regulations state idle for 60 to 90 days result in disconnection. Due to security, top up in advance and use your SIM at least occasionally.
