Ration Card Update: A big action related to the ration card has come to light in the district. For a long time, eligible people kept wandering to get ration cards made, while the names of ineligible people were included in the list in their place. Investigations were done at the local level several times, but no concrete results came out. Now, in the investigation based on the information of various departments registered on the portal of the Government of India, 78,155 ineligible ration card holders have been identified.

Lakhpatis were also taking the rights of the poor

According to the investigation report, 20 thousand such people have been found whose property and income are in lakhs. Apart from this, more than 19 thousand such people came forward whose Aadhar cards were found to have irregularities. Now the district administration has decided that all these ration card holders will have their cards canceled after on-site verification. This will clear the way for the real eligible families to get the card.

How many ration card holders are in the district

Under the National Food Security Act, there are a total of 7,70,559 ration card holders in the district. Of these, 6,53,348 are in the eligible household category and 1,17,211 are Antyodaya card holders. The government has set different income standards for urban and rural areas. The income limit of eligible households in urban areas has been fixed at three lakhs and two lakhs annually for rural areas.

Ineligible people caught through portal portal-based investigation

Investigations were conducted several times earlier, but ineligible people could not be identified. Recently, online verification was done on the basis of departmental data on the portal of the Government of India. The list of ineligible people became clear in this. These include suspicious Aadhaar holders, vehicle owners, big landowners, directors of various institutions, and people of the high-income group.

In which categories were ineligible people found

The investigation revealed that 19,780 people with suspicious Aadhaar cards, 485 people above 1000 years of age, 15 people below 18 years of age, 14,132 people who did not take ration for 6-12 months, and 3,636 people who did not take ration for more than six months were found. At the same time, duplicate ration cards of 7,290 people were found in the state, and 38 in other states.

Apart from this, there were 12,776 people whose annual income was above two lakhs, while the income of 7,274 was more than three lakhs. 3,634 people were found to have more than five acres of land. The GST turnover of 66 people was more than 25 lakhs. At the same time, in the case of vehicle ownership, 7,838 motorcycles, 14 four-wheelers, 16 heavy vehicles, and 40 other vehicle holders were found. Also, 1,119 such people were found who are directors of some institution.

Administration’s strictness and time limit

District Supply Officer Dilip Kumar has provided the list of ineligible cardholders to all the supply inspectors. Now their on-site verification will be done, and the report will be uploaded to the portal. For this time, the deadline has been fixed till 31 August. After verification, the Government of India will take further action.
