Ration Card: Good news for Ration Card holders. The central government has pushed back the deadline for e-KYC to April 30 (Akshay Tritiya), extending it from the original March 31 date. The Ministry of Food Supply has sent out a letter instructing all states to ensure that 100% of the e-KYC process is completed by this new deadline.

If a ration card holder fails to complete the KYC by the deadline, their name will be removed from the ration card, which means they won’t receive food grain distributions. Beneficiaries can visit their nearest public distribution system shop to finish the e-KYC process using an e-POS machine.

Why is e-KYC important for ration card holders?

e-KYC, or Know Your Customer, is essential for verifying the identities of ration card holders and eliminating fraudulent cards. By completing the KYC process, only eligible individuals will receive benefits. If a fake ration card is found under someone’s name, it can be canceled.

During the e-KYC process, each member of the ration card must ensure their name, date of birth, and other details match their Aadhaar information.

How to complete the e-KYC for your ration card:

1. Start by visiting the Public Distribution System website for e-KYC.

2. Select your state to proceed with the e-KYC.

3. Look for the service option on the homepage or find the Ration Card menu.

4. Click on the “e-KYC for Ration Card” option.

5. Enter your ration card number and Aadhaar number.

6. Provide the Aadhaar number of the head of the family or the person listed on the ration card.

7. An OTP will be sent to the phone number linked to the Aadhaar for verification; enter that code.

8. Fill in all required information, and you’ll receive a confirmation message once the e-KYC process is complete.
