The target for ration cards in rural areas was nearly met, so ration cards were not being issued. Now there is ample opportunity to get new ration cards made. The rich are consuming the rations meant for the poor. The number of such people is over 10,000. A list of vehicle owners and income tax payers has been received from the government. A survey is underway based on that. Their ration cards are certain to be cancelled. Eligible people will be able to obtain new ration cards in their place.
Until now, obtaining a new ration card in rural areas was difficult. This is now possible once the list of income tax payers and vehicle owners is available. Eligible individuals will be able to obtain an Aadhaar card both in urban and rural areas.
