Ration Card – Good news for Ration Card holders. The government is innovating in the interest of consumers and to make fair price shops financially strong. Now a system has been started to provide quality milk products and other nutritional items along with ration to consumers at reasonable prices from government fair price shops. There is also a target to make organic products available from these shops. Under the scheme, Jan Poshan Kendra has been established at 30 identified fair price shops in Indore district.

Taking a step forward in this direction, 15-15 fair price shops in Ujjain and Sagar districts have been selected to develop them as Jan Poshan Kendra. In this regard, training will also be provided to the selected vendors by the Government of India.

Ration Card will provide Doodh and Ghee Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput has said that this is an innovative initiative to convert government ration shops into nutrition centers. Its purpose is to provide nutritious food items to the people. At the same time, local consumers are expressing happiness over the availability of the said material at the fair price shop. They say that since ration as well as other items will be available at one place, now one will not have to go elsewhere.

After the Jan Poshan Kendra starts at fair price shops, consumers will not only benefit, but the income of ration dealers will also increase and people will get nutritious food items. Nutrition related products will be stored in Jan Poshan Kendras. Ration dealers will also get easy loan facility in these centers. Along with this, digital tools and support systems will be used in the centers. The process of creating Common Service Center, Banking Correspondence is also being done at Jan Poshan Kendra.

A system is being started to stock nutrition-dense items such as millets, pulses, edible oil, soybean and dairy products at Jan Poshan Kendras and provide them at reasonable prices. The dealers of fair price shops were trained by the National Skill Training Institute. A state level management committee has been formed for the management and monitoring the project.
