Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana: The government of Rajasthan has introduced the Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana, which emphasizes the education, health, and secure future of daughters. This initiative has been active throughout the state since June 1, 2016. Its goal is to foster a positive mindset towards daughters in society and to offer financial assistance to families at crucial stages of their lives. Under this scheme, the government grants substantial financial aid of Rs 50,000 from the time a daughter is born until she completes her 12th grade.
This amount is not disbursed in a single payment but rather in six distinct installments to cater to the daughter’s needs over time. The government is optimistic that this initiative will transform societal views on daughters, motivating families to celebrate them rather than viewing them as a burden. This will also help decrease the dropout rate of girls from school.
What is the purpose of the scheme?
The primary advantage of this scheme is for families facing economic hardships who, due to financial constraints, struggle to send their daughters to school. The government aims for every daughter to receive quality education and maintain good health. Consequently, the assistance amount is tied to educational and health programs. This initiative seeks to enhance the birth rate of girl children and lower maternal mortality rates in the state. When families are aware that they will receive government support for their daughters’ education, they are more inclined to send them to school. This scheme represents a significant move towards empowering the girls of the state.
What is this scheme?
Initiated by the Rajasthan government in 2016, the scheme allocates Rs 50,000 to daughters’ accounts from birth until they finish 12th grade. This sum is directly deposited into accounts established in their names. The benefits of the scheme are distributed in six installments. The first installment of Rs 2,500 is provided upon the birth of a daughter. When the daughter reaches one year of age and is fully vaccinated, an additional Rs 2,500 is given as the second installment.
After this, when the daughter enrolls in the first grade, a third installment of Rs. 4,000 is given. The fourth installment of Rs. 5,000 is given upon admission to Class 6. Upon reaching Class 10, a fifth installment of Rs. 11,000 is provided. The largest and final installment is Rs. 25,000, which is given upon the daughter passing Class 12.
Who can avail the benefits of the scheme?
The benefit will be available only to permanent residents of Rajasthan .
The girl child must have been born after June 1, 2016.
The girl child must be born in a registered hospital or health centre.
