IRCTC Update – New changes are being made daily by the Indian Railways. Ticket bookers will benefit from these changes. IRCTC has made another change to the train ticket booking process through its official website and mobile app. This move is believed to benefit genuine passengers and eliminate unscrupulous middlemen.

The Railways want to prevent misuse of the reservation system. Last month, the Railways made Aadhaar-based authentication mandatory for passengers booking reserved train tickets through IRCTC or the app within the first 15 minutes of the opening of general reservations.

However, there has been no change in the booking times for reserved tickets through computerised PRS counters. The time limit for booking tickets through these counters will remain the same.

According to information received from the Indian Railways, IRCTC has decided to make Aadhaar-based authentication mandatory for booking reserved train tickets in the morning. IRCTC said in a statement, “From October 28, 2025, only Aadhaar-authenticated users will be able to book tickets between 8 AM and 10 AM on the first day of reserved ticket booking opening.”

Important Rules for Tatkal Ticket Booking

Earlier this year, the national transporter announced that Tatkal tickets booked through IRCTC’s official website and mobile app would be available only to Aadhaar-authenticated users.

The statement stated that to prevent a large number of bookings during the crucial initial period, authorised ticket agents of Indian Railways will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets for the opening day during the first 30 minutes of the booking window. This is considered a major decision by IRCTC.
