Premium Train Announced: Great news for travelers between Bengaluru and Mumbai! Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has revealed that a premium train service linking these two cities will be launching soon. He mentioned that the track doubling work on this route is moving along quickly, which will pave the way for more train services in the future.
Additionally, he shared that Karnataka has received a record allocation of Rs 7,748 crore in this year’s railway budget. This figure is almost nine times higher than what was allocated during the UPA government. He also pointed out that the total railway investment in the state has now hit Rs 52,950 crore. According to the Railway Minister, this significant investment will go towards laying new tracks, upgrading stations, implementing safety measures, modern announcement systems, the Bengaluru Suburban Rail, and various new projects. This will enhance passenger amenities and bolster the rail network.
Electrification testing and certification are currently in progress between Bengaluru and Mangaluru. Concerning the proposed Vande Bharat train service between these two cities, he mentioned that the electrification testing and certification are underway. Once these processes are finalized, details about the train’s launch will be communicated.
It’s crucial to steer clear of blame and counter-accusations
On the topic of land acquisition, Vaishnav noted that the central government is maintaining regular communication with the state government. He stressed that, in the spirit of cooperative federalism, the center is actively seeking the state’s collaboration and that it’s vital to avoid any finger-pointing.
When discussing the Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Hyderabad bullet train corridors announced in the Union Budget, the Railway Minister stated that these projects will link three major economies in South India. He referred to them as the high-speed diamonds of South India and highlighted that significant progress has already been made in this area.
