Get your Aadhaar verified and updated by visiting the nearest branch of the bank or company from which you have taken the insurance policy. Under this scheme, farmers have to pay only two percent of the insurance premium, while the rest of the amount is borne by the State and Central Government. This scheme protects farmers from crop loss due to natural calamities.

Which crops can be insured

Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers can get their various crops insured. This scheme gives you protection for major crops of every season. Paddy (irrigated and non-irrigated), soybean, groundnut, maize, moong, jowar, tuar, cotton, sesame millet, and urad. This scheme will help farmers to compensate for crop loss due to natural calamities like adverse weather, drought, flood, hailstorm, etc.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was started on 13 May 2016. Its main objective is to provide relief to farmers from the loss of both Kharif and Rabi crops due to natural disasters. Under this, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Restructured Weather-Based Horticulture Crop Insurance Scheme are run.

Under this scheme, if the crop of farmers is damaged due to natural disasters like weather, drought, flood, hailstorm, etc., then in such a situation, the loss of crop is compensated. Farmers get insurance money for their damaged crop. So that they can manage financially.

How to apply online

For farmers who want to apply online, this process is quite simple:-

Visit the official portal of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

Click on the ‘Farmers Corner’ tab on the homepage.

After clicking on ‘Guest Farmer’, the registration form will open.

Enter your name, name in the passbook, mobile number, address, farmer ID, and full bank details.

After registration, click on ‘Farmers Corner’ again and log in with your user ID.

After entering the mobile number, verify it with OTP (One Time Password). Now the farmer application form will open.

Fill in all the information asked in the application form for insurance correctly.

Which crop are you planting, and what is the area of the field? You have to choose a Rabi or a Kharif crop.

After filling in the form, read it carefully and submit it. A message will appear on the screen for payment.

If you want, you can pay later by choosing the ‘Pay Later’ option, or you can pay the premium at the same time. Do not forget to take a printout of it after payment.

How to apply offline

Offline options are also available for farmers who are not comfortable applying online:-

Farmers can get the form from the bank or insurance company from which they are getting insurance. After this, submit the form along with all the documents and note down the application ID.

Farmers can also fill out the form with the help of the Common Service Center (CSC). You have to give information to your VLE, and he will fill out the form on your behalf.
