UPI Post Office Payment– The way of paying money in the post office is going to change completely soon. Now the facility of digital payment will be available at the counter in all post offices across the country . The Department of Posts has announced that all post offices will accept digital transactions from August 2025.

This will be possible through the new version of their IT system IT 2.0, which will enable digital payments through dynamic QR codes connected to UPI (Unified Payments Interface). The department has also said that help will also be provided at the counter to customers adopting digital payments.

Till now, the country’s post offices were not able to accept UPI based digital payments because their IT system was not linked to UPI. But now a new application is being launched under the IT 2.0 upgrade, which will generate a unique dynamic QR code for every transaction. This will make it easier and safer for customers to make payments for postal services.

Facility will be available from this day

The pilot project of this new system has been started in the Karnataka circle. Booking of mail products through QR code has been done successfully in many small post offices including the headquarters of Mysore and Bagalkot. According to officials, this new system will be implemented in a phased manner in post offices across the country and all post offices will be equipped with it by August 2025.

Earlier also the postal department had installed static QR codes on the counters for digital payments ( UPI Transaction ), but due to technical problems and customer complaints, this facility was discontinued. Now learning from the same experience, the department has moved towards dynamic QR code, which creates new codes for every transaction and makes the payment safe and reliable.

With this step, lakhs of rural and semi-urban customers who avail services at post offices on a daily basis will now be able to make payments through digital means instead of cash. This initiative is considered a big step towards accelerating Digital India and cashless economy.
