New Delhi: The NDA’s landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections has raised questions about the unity of the opposition. Tensions between the RJD and the Congress have been steadily increasing since the results. A war of words has erupted between leaders of both parties even before the review of the defeat. At a Congress review meeting in Delhi, the Rashtriya Janata Dal was blamed for the Bihar defeat.

Following the Congress review meeting, RJD state president Mangani Lal Mandal launched a scathing attack on the Congress, calling it a “remote” statement. Congress spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari also reacted strongly to the RJD leader’s statement, sparking speculation about a split between the two parties.

RJD state president attacks Congress

RJD president Mangani Lal Mandal on Saturday leveled a serious accusation against the Congress, naming the Congress. He said that the seats and votes Congress secured in the assembly elections were only possible because of the RJD’s strong support base. He further stated bluntly, “If the Congress party wants to pursue separate politics, let them do so.”

This will reveal their strength. Referring to the 2020 elections, he said that Congress had won 72 seats, 19 of which were due to the RJD. Mandal asked Congress to analyse its “status” and added that if they wanted to go their separate ways, no one was stopping them.

Congress also responded

Congress launched a scathing attack on RJD’s allegations. Congress spokesperson Asitnath Tiwari retorted to this sharp statement. Asitnath Tiwari questioned, “If Congress has no political strength, why would anyone ally with us?” He further emphasised that allies should respect each other, and those who do not understand this lack the understanding of coalition dharma.

BJP also took a jibe

Amidst the ongoing rhetoric between RJD and Congress, BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain immediately took a jibe. He said that both were fighting before the elections and are fighting even after the elections. According to Shahnawaz Hussain, this tussle clearly shows the lack of coordination in the Grand Alliance.
